  • Magic Leap is going into the movie business.
  • Not much is known about Magic Leap, the $4.5 billion start-up working to create something C.E.O. Rony Abovitz calls “cinematic reality”-a technology blending together “virtual reality and an acid trip.
  • While the general public hasn’t seen Magic Leap’s technology, the company describes it as “projecting digital light fields onto your retina, helping your eyes and brain see things that look like they’re part of the real world.”
  • To give a sense of what that might look like, the company debuted a new mixed-reality video on Thursday, too, featuring Star Wars holograms of R2-D2 and C-3PO, shot using Magic Leap’s technology.
  • Magic Leap has already started building projects with LucasFilm’s help. “
