Basketball and virtual reality have rarely been mentioned in the same sentence before, and yet today, the concept is more relevant than ever.

The NBA has just announced that starting next week, the league will be streaming one game per week in virtual reality, all season long. According to TechCrunch, the stream will be hosted by NextVR, an app that allows for live sports streaming on Samsung and Oculus’ GearVR platform.

Due to the fact that this will be the first time that a major sports league has offered a live VR broadcast for an extended duration, it will definitely be interesting to see how the idea plays out.

If you’re interested in checking out the new VR-streamed basketball games, be sure to purchase your own NBA League Pass subscription, as the feature will only be available there for a total package cost of $199.99 USD – which isn’t too bad of a deal, considering how you get to stream more than 1,000 games over the course of the NBA season.
