Virtual reality (VR) has been proven as a useful educational tool, helping teach kids and train adults across all sorts of disciplines. There’s a few different apps available for home users as well, and for Samsung Gear VR owners who like their history Our Dinosaur Era has recently launched for the headset.

Created by Crenosmart, Our Dinosaur Era features three episodes taking you through their rise and fall, existing on the Earth for 180 million years. You’ll be able to examine giant fossils or head to a dinosaur planet to see them digitally fleshed out.

In the first episode you’re introduced to dinosaurs and the evolution process. Here features such as the strongest bite force, the fastest, and the largest to the smallest are all compared, demonstrating how powerful some of these creatures became. For the second episode the studio focused on the extinction of the dinosaurs around 65 million years ago, and how this allowed early mammals to begin to thrive. In the final episode, Our Dinosaur Era takes you to a fossil museum, highlighting some of the most recognisable dinosaurs that existed during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.

The whole experience lasts for approximately 45 minutes and can be downloaded now through Oculus Store for £2.29 GBP.
