Home appliance bran AEG are leveraging the power of augmented reality (AR) to demonstrate its latest products to the British public with the installation of the ‘Magic Mirror’ AR experience at London’s Kings Cross station.

AEG will be partnering with AR content creators 3rockAR to create the AR experience, which will be presented to passengers and visitors at Kings Cross station, one of London’s busiest transports hubs. The activate the experience, visitors simply need to stand in front of the ‘Magic Mirror’ and 3D animations will transform the area around them, presenting a mirror image glimpse into a different world.

It is hoped that by using a large-scale AR image, without need for a headset or app download, it will engage with a greater number of potential customers. There will be two main animations available throughout the display period. The first is designed to promote the cooling power of AEG’s fridge-freezer range, and will create the illusion of penguins climbing out of an appliance accompanied by falling snow. The second will emphasise the energy efficiency of its line of washing machines by presenting a natural setting surrounded by wild deer and stunning waterfalls.
